Pongal🌾







 
        Pongal also known as "Uzhavar tirunal" is observed on January 15th.This festival is dedicated to Sun God,where farmers dedicate their newly harvested crops to the Sun God.It is State harvest festival ,where people wear traditional clothes and cook traditional foods in their homes.

Usually,Pongal is celebrated for 4 days,

  •    Bhogi pongal-where people clean their houses and burn it in fire,meaning that they let go of the past and welcome the future.(“பழையன கழித்தலும், புதியன புகுதலும்”-in Tamil(
  • Next day is celebrated as Pongal 
  • Next day as Mattu Pongal,where farmers dedicate this day to their cow's and cattles,for it's hardwork for ploughing it's field for farming. 
  • Next day is celebrated as Kaannum Pongal where Tamilians go on visit to see their parents, relatives and friends for greetings and blessings.
